The company Hauthaler Zimmerei-Holzbau GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Reichenhall, Marzoll, is a well-known carpentry company in the region. The company has specialized in timber construction and has been manufacturing the classic products of a carpenter's workshop for over 19 years.

Many years of experience, quality, combined with great flexibility and reliability are the foundations of this success.

As part of an investment project, the extraction system was to be renewed and SPÄNEX was contacted. In an appointment on site, the responsible field service employee, Mr. Manfred Rieder - Sales Office Bavaria, recorded the customer's data and discussed the key points with Hauthaler. According to this, 5 processing machines and a shredder to be delivered were to be extracted. The determined, required extraction volume flow was variable between 7,000 and 9,000 m³/h.

Another important aspect of this project was the material handling. The chips extracted from the processing machines and the wood chips had to be transported into the existing silo in the most energy-saving way. Another difficulty was the limited space available for setting up a filter unit.

To solve this special task, a compact dust extractor from the SMU series was offered from the SPÄNEX product range in the version with chip container and integrated discharging. Due to its dimensions, the compact dust extractor could be arranged on the ceiling of the boiler room directly next to the silo, so that the chip material discharged from the container of the dust extractor and the wood chips could be conveyed directly into the silo via a rotary valve (decoupling element) and a screw conveyor.

With regard to energy-efficient operation, a frequency converter was offered, via which the speed of the extraction fan is varied and thus the extraction power is adapted to the respective demand. This speed adjustment takes place automatically via the PID controller integrated into the circuit.

Mr. Rieder's advice and proposed solution with its recognisable advantages, especially with regard to the installation options and material handling, convinced Hauthaler, so that SPÄNEX received the order for the delivery, installation and commissioning of the system.

After the commissioning of the plant and almost six months of operation, Hauthaler is convinced of the performance and functionality of the system as well as the energy-saving mode of operation. The result of the new extraction system is summarised by Hauthaler as follows:
